Kenpo
“I come to you with only Karate, empty hands. I have no weapons, but should I be forced to defend myself, my principles or my honor; should it be a matter of life or death, of right or wrong; then here are my weapons, Karate, my empty hands.” - Grand Master Ed Parker
Ed Parker is often referred to as the father of American Kenpo, an original mixed martial art that emphasizes effective street self defense. It has both circular and linear movements as well as hard and soft techniques. Kenpo teaches speed and coordination of strikes and is characterized by its use of quick moves in rapid fire succession intended to overwhelm an opponent. Also included are numerous escapes, throws, sweeps and immobilization techniques.
